Charles "Angus" Weeks

WEEKS, CHARLES “ANGUS” DRUMMOND HOWSON McMARTIN - Wilmot, NS - On March 21, 2014 at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, Charles “Angus” Drummond Howson McMartin Weeks, a knight in shining armour rode into the sunset. Angus was born August 9, 1927 in Saint John, New Brunswick the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Howson) Weeks. He studied piano music, his passion, with Mabel Sharp receiving a Licentiate of Music from McGill University. He studied advanced pianoforte under Harold Berino, Saint John and Janis Kalnins, Fredericton. For several years he was part of the Community Concert series, performing in New England and New Brunswick. He was a member of the Liszt Society. He was also a radio engineer working at Fundy Broadcasting (CFBC, Saint John). He became chief engineer at CFBC where he built the first commercial FM stereo radio station in the Maritimes. He was a member of the American Broadcasting and Recording Engineers. He had a wide interest in many areas such as oil painting, photography, astronomy (former member of the Royal Astronomical Society), nature and history. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret, Wilmot, sister-in-law, Mary Dechaine, Grand Lake, a nephew and several nieces. He was predeceased by his daughter, Paula, sisters, Christine Burke and Elizabeth Bannister; brother, Thomas. Thanks and appreciation go to Dr. Paul McGuire who steadfastly gave good medical care and compassion over 39 years; Juanita Richardson a valued friend; Anna Goski of Mid Valley Palliative Care Services; Mark Maston who made his hopes of getting home almost happen; to Janet Welton and Katrina Patterson for their wisdom, comfort and support over the last two weeks; to the wonderful staff and doctors in the Outpatient and Medical floors of Soldiers Memorial Hospital for their kindness and gentle care. Special thanks to “The Diner” gang for fine conversations and friendships over many years. Especially valued was the ease, friendships and love Angus experienced at the Sunshine Inn, Parrsboro.
Cremation has taken place. No visitation or service. A memorial reception for Angus with laughter and food will be held at Kingston United Church Hall at a later date.
