Tibbitts, Alta Joyce (Rogers) – Truro
It is with deep sadness that the family wishes to announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother in Colchester East Hants Health Centre on March 21, 2014. Born in Sheffield Mills, Kings County on December 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Annie (Beals) Rogers. Alta was a homemaker with a great love for children. Her interests included knitting, cards, baking, interior decorating, auctions, yard sales, scrapbooking, and genealogy. Alta was a member of the Mayflower Unit at Valley United Church. Alta was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1983; brothers, Dean and Eugene; sisters, Ruby, Evelyn, Claire and Marion. Survived by her children, Robert (Marlene), Sandra (Greg) Amon, Brenda MacKenzie (Vaughn), Janet (Graham) Mumford; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26 with funeral service followed by a reception on Thursday, March 27 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Mary White officiating, both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. Alta’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the VON Home Support Workers who gave such outstanding care to our mother. Donations in her memory may be made to the ALS Society or Valley United Church.
