Helen Carlson, long time resident of Dawson Creek B.C. passed away peacefully surrounded by family, in Dawson Creek on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the age of 80 years.
Helen was predeceased by her parents, John and Linda (Holmstrom) Isberg, sisters Florence and Myrtle, brothers Stanley and Gilbert.
Helen is survived by her husband, partner and best friend Stan Carlson, daughter Kari (Brian) Bloor, son Randal (Susan), and grandchildren Chad (Jaclyn), Trish (Bill), Dylana and Elisabeth, and great-grandchildren Jackson and Harrison, her brother George, sister Evelyn, brothers in law Don (Doreen), Eric (Agnes), Ray and sisters in law Bernice (Jim) and Pearl, special nephew Lawrence (Debbie), niece Linda Isberg and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Helen was born in the south Wapiti district near Wembley, Alberta in 1934, the youngest child of Johan (John) and Linda Isberg. She spent most of her early years in the Brockington, Saskatchewan area before moving with her family to Dawson Creek in 1942 where she resided for the remainder of her life.
Helen was an avid curler and golfer, being several time club champion. She was an active member and served on the executive of both the Dawson Creek golf and curling clubs.
In addition to sports she enjoyed camping and travel and was always happiest in the company of friends and family.
While we are saddened by Helen’s passing, our memories of her lively personality, and her courage in her last year will comfort and inspire us all the years ahead.
A Celebration of Helen’s life was held from Reynars Funeral Chapel on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be at a later date.
