STELLA STAPLES

Stella was born on the family farm at Dafoe, SK on 25 September 1922. She was predeceased by husband Richard Staples and is survived by her children Lynn Condie, Leslie & Ray Knelsen, Jim & Marsha, Glen & Genevieve, Margaret & Kendram Laba, Kathy & John Suliak, Howard & Miriam, Ken & Catherine, 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Born and raised in SK she also lived in Calgary, Armstrong and Vernon, BC. Stella’s career and education spanned over 72 years which started with teacher’s training, to a Permanent Teaching Certificate and then a Bachelor of Education at the age of 51. Stella loved to learn and lived to teach. Those who benefitted from her passion were students in elementary school, Kindergarten and English upgrading. She also managed a play school, taught life skills to mentally handicapped adults and tutored children. To balance all the classroom work she also enjoyed being outdoors—baseball, bicycling, swimming, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing were all activities she enjoyed along with singing and bowling. A Celebration of Stella’s life will be held at Providence Place Rose Room on Friday March 28, 2014 at 2:00 pm. Della Ferguson will officiate. Family Memorialization will take place at a later date.
