RIVER JOHN – With great sadness the family of the late Alice Martha Roberts, 90, announces her passing in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow on March 22, 2014.
Alice had been a resident of the Shiretown Nursing Home for the past four and a half years.
Born in Rexton, NB, on December 13, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Clark) Robichaud and was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Alice met and married her late husband Lawrence during the war and settled in River John on his family’s farm. In later years after the family was grown, she worked in the local fish factory. She was a member of the Frazee Rebekah Lodge #33, River John. After moving to the nursing home, Alice enjoyed the social life of the home, the staff became her family, and the girls were with her at the time of her passing. Elizabeth and family truly appreciate this act of kindness. Thanks also to Sherry Henderson for being with mom when we couldn’t be there.
Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth (Jim) Hallahan, Dartmouth; Edith, Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou; grandsons, Jimmy, Vancouver; Kevin ( Stacey) Stayner, Ontario; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Claire. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Margie Robichaud, Rexton, NB, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; son Clarence; brothers: George, Leonard, Clarence; sisters: Grace, Myrtle, Evangeline, Dorothy, Lizzie and Doreen.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. George’s Presbyterian Church, River John, with Rev. Gregory Dickson officiating.
Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to the Frazee Rebekah Lodge #33 or the St. George’s Presbyterian Church, River John.
