THOMPSON, PHYLLIS DAPHNA (1922 - 2014) - Mrs. Phyllis D. Thompson of Castalia Grand Manan Island, NB passed away at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Tuesday March 25, 2014. She was born the daughter of the late Ashton and Margaret (White) Linton. When she was just starting on her own she worked as an operator at the NB Tel switchboard on Grand Manan, Wasson’s Pharmacy in Saint John, also she took a business course at the Saint John Business College. While living in Saint John she met her husband George and they started their family. Following her husband’s death Phyllis returned to Grand Manan Island where she worked as a book keeper for local fisherman, and worked at both the North Head and Castalia Post Office. With her quiet spirit and loving heart Phyllis raised her son Jamie and daughter Shonda and provided for them. Later when her grandchildren came into her life Phyllis was always interested in each of their lives and enjoyed her visits with them. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Shonda (Buckie) Zwicker of Deep Cove. Her grandchildren Sheridan (Joel) Linton, Shayna and Jordan Calder, and Kristopher and Carter Thompson. Special niece Cathy Bedeau of Castalia. Also several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband George, her only son Jamie Thompson, her sister Helen Pellerine, three brothers; Eugene, Ray, and Roy Linton.
Visiting will take place from the Castalia Baptist Church on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place from the church on Friday March 28, 2014 at 1:30 pm with Rev. Ruth Fair-Parker officiating and Rev. Ron Ford assisting. The interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery later in the spring. Phyllis’ family has requested that donations may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation, or to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
