Barbrick, Allan Dempster – Age 82, of Shubenacadie. It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the passing, of our loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Allan Dempster Barbrick, on March 24, 2014.
Born in Admiral Rock, he was a son of the late Eva (Nelson) and Dempster Barbrick. He is survived by his wife, of 59 years, the former Pearl Hutt; daughters, Sheila (Jim), Suzette (Sid), Alana (Glenn); grandchildren, Tracy (Craig), Christian (Julie), Cory (Lynette), Jaime (Adam), David (Emma), Brandon; great-grandchildren, Aidan and Rylan; sister, Lois; brother, George Sr.; many extended family members. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Valerie, for her special friendship and support.
He was predeceased by brothers, Nelson and Bruce “Bub”.
He enjoyed time with his family and friends, was often seen puttering in his garden, taking many road trips with Pearl by his side; and giving time to the local Legion. Allan was particularly proud of his many years of service as a peacekeeper with The Black Watch Royal Highland Regiment of Canada.
Visitation and Legion service will be Sunday, 6-8 p.m., and funeral service will be Monday, at 2 p.m., both in Shubenacadie United Church, 2869 Main Street, Rev. Martin Reid officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
