NEW GLASGOW – Mrs. Mary G. Carroll, passed away on March 25th, 2014 at Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home with her extended family with her.
Mary was born in Springhill, NS. She was a daughter of Alexander Hugh and Mary Eleanor (McManaman) MacLean.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; a sister, Margaret McCarron; two brothers: John H. and Charles A. MacLean.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. Mary was a member of the Saint John the Baptist Catholic Women’s League and also a member of the 55 Club. Mary loved to skate and she enjoyed that activity well into her 70’s. She also liked bowling and playing cards, especially Crib and Auction. She was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadiens, win or lose.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at R.H. Porter Funeral Home in New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. from Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church in New Glasgow, with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date.
