BURNS, Madge Eileen – aged 82 of Torbrook Mines, NS passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown. Born in Lequille, NS she was a daughter of the late John W. and Harriett (Boylan) Clarke. Madge devoted her life to raising her family. She loved her family dearly, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Anthony) Page, Fort McMurray, AB; Ann Gillis, Red Deer, AB; her sons, Bill (Pat) Gillis, Nictaux; Rick (Carla) Gillis and Mike (Marg) Gillis, both of Torbrook Mines; her grandchildren, James Page and Nicole Innis (Page), both of Fort McMurray, AB; John Gillis, Dartmouth; Michael Gillis, Nictaux; Russell Gillis, Wilmot; Wanda Gillis, Greenwood; Dr. Megan Gillis; Halifax; Stephanie Gillis, Dartmouth; Chad and Caitlyn Gillis, both of Red Deer, AB; Candice Spidle; Cornwall and several great grandchildren in Alberta and Nova Scotia. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband Gordon Gillis; her second husband Carl Burns; her brothers, Arthur; Harry; Edward; John; George; Russell; her sisters, Dorothy Barteaux, Glenna Woodland, Frances Shepherd, Jean Riley and stepson Byron. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held Saturday, March 22, 2014 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902) 825-3448 where a memorial service was held Sunday, March 23, 2014 with Pastor Neil Armstrong officiating. A reception for family and friends followed the service. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Lequille at a later date.
