Gray, Payson James, 1991 – 2014
It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Payson James Gray on March 22, 2014 in Edmonton, Alberta. Payson was born in Truro on April 1, 1991. He was the precious son of Maralee (Mike) Kontuk of Westville and Darren Gray of Truro. Payson attended Salmon River School, South Colchester Academy and CEC. He recently attended Bay Tech College for his first block in plumbing which led him to move to Edmonton to become an apprentice plumber. Payson was also very involved in hockey and baseball in his younger years. He had many friends and enjoyed many great moments with them. He loved to camp and fish. In addition to his parents he is survived by his sisters, Trish (Wade) LeBlanc, Saint John and Shannon (Adam) Francis, Halifax; grandparents, Connie McNutt and Bertha Smith both of Truro, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandfathers, “Grampy Mark” Smith and Keith McNutt both of Truro and his very special “Aunt Helen” MacKenzie who passed away just the day before Payson. There will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held at the Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro on Monday, March 31 at 2 p.m. Family flowers only by request. In lieu, donations may be made to Big Brothers, Big Sisters or charity of choice.
