RANKINE, VERNON ARTHUR - Vernon A. Rankine, a well known businessman in the province of New Brunswick passed away in his 87th year on Friday, March 28th, 2014. His death occurred at York Care Centre after a two year struggle with rapid dementia. Son of the late G. Arthur and Darleyne (Gullison) Rankine and husband to Emma (Charters) Rankine. He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Susan McAteer (Dennis) and son, James (Young-ah); sister, Elaine Leonard (Don); brother, Charles Rankine (Ann); 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Vernon was predeceased by his son, Richard (Susan) and two sisters, Dorothy Baxter and Maxene Rankine. The compassionate care shown to Vernon and his family by everyone at York Care Centre was deeply appreciated.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 1st, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Nasonworth on Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Canon Bruce McKenna officiating. Interment will be in New Maryland at St. Mary the Virgin Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in support of the NB Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
