Sharon Lilie Bugley

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sharon Lilie Bugley, 72, of Amherst on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan following a brief illness.
Born on November 10, 1941 in St. Catherines, ON, Sharon was a daughter of the late Shurley S. and Lillian M. (Taylor) Cane as well as her step-mother the late Lillian Rumsby.
In her younger years, Sharon worked for the Canadian Red Cross as a Homecare worker and later for the Cumberland Regional School Board as a Student Monitor at West Highlands Elementary School for several years. One of her proudest achievements was to return to school at the age of 40 where she completed her grade 12 and graduated with a Clerical Certificate.
Sharon was a faithful member of Trinity - St. Stephen’s United Church and the UCW, member of Pythian Sisters Temple # 6, Nomads of Aurudaka, Miriam Rebekah Lodge # 36, Maple Sugar Cloggers, Cumberland Twirlers, and Canadian Blood Services.
Sharon enjoyed square and clog dancing, cross country skiing, fishing and playing her piano.
In May 2013, Sharon and her family traveled to Scotland to attend her son’s wedding.
Her fondest memories were spent with her loving family, especially her grand and great grandchildren.
Sharon will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her daughters, Donna (Peter) Roberts, Amherst, Darlene (Barry) Wigston, Chippawa, ON; son, Ken (Jamie) Bugley, Beamsville, ON; beloved grandchildren, Aaron, Shannon, Tyler, Adam, Nikki Roberts as well as Christine Bristo, Joshua, Sarah, and Rebekah Wigston; special great granddaughters, Lily Wessman and Jasmine Roberts; sisters, Pat Cane, Fenwick, ON and Lynn (Keith) Deakin, St. Catherines; brother, David Cane, Barrie, ON; as well as nephews, Brad and Jeff and extended family.
Besides her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth in 1987.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Saturday, March 29th and Sunday March 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Pythian Sisters tribute service Sunday at 7:00 p.m. all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. from Trinity –St. Stephen’s United Church with Rev. Carolyn MacLeod officiating. Sharon’s remains will be laid to rest at a later date besides her husband in the Riverside Cemetery, Tidnish.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sharon’s memory may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, Diabetic Association or the IWK.
