COMPTON, DÉLIA - It is with great sadness that the Compton family announces the passing of Délia Marie-Jeanne Compton (LeBlanc), 66, of London, Ontario. She went peacefully surrounded by her family on March 30th, 2014 at the Critical Care Trauma Centre of the London Victoria Hospital. Délia was born in Shediac, New Brunswick to Leo and Erméline LeBlanc on December 27, 1947. Délia is survived by her husband George; son Marc (Renée) Compton: son Scott (Melissa) Compton; daughter Michelle (Bryan) Carey; sister Judy (Moe) Robichaud; sister Rose (Donnie) Wilson; brother Roland LeBlanc; brother Maurice (Yvette) LeBlanc; and cherished grandchildren Sadie, Brigitte, Lilyanne, Declan, George and Joseph. Délia attended school in Shediac, New Brunswick. When she graduated she began nursing school at George L. Dumont Hospital in Moncton. Upon graduation she moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia and began her nursing career at the IWK Children's Hospital in Halifax. Délia and George were married on July 10, 1971. Marc came along in 1973, Scott in 1976 and Michelle in 1977. The family moved to Sherwood PEI in 1984 where Délia worked for Veterans Affairs as a medical précis writer. In 1987 they moved to Quispamsis, NB where Délia began her third career with Revenue Canada. When the family moved to London, ON she continued with Revenue Canada until her retirement. She excelled in whatever she did. Délia found her true vocation as "Nana" to her six beloved grandchildren. Délia made true friends wherever she went and their support through her final days was a great comfort to her.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm at the Harris Funeral Home, 220 St. James St. at Richmond, London, ON, where a celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 3rd at 11 am. A further celebration is planned in Shediac at a later date, prior to interment at the Compton Family Plot in Brooklyn, PEI. The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff of Oncology and the Critical Care Trauma Centre at Victoria Hospital.
