KENNEDY, SHEILA ELIZABETH - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a cherished wife, mother and grandmother, Sheila Elizabeth Kennedy of Burton NB on 31 March 2014 at the Oromocto Hospital. Sheila was born in Glace Bay, NS 18 May 1941. She was predeceased by her parents, William Briggs and Mary Briggs (McCann). Sheila will be forever missed and loved by her husband of 48 years, Errol Kennedy; her children Beth Baxter, Sylvia Finnan (Ken) and Errol (Wendy), and grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Carl, Corey, Abbi, Hanna, and Andrew. Sheila is also survived by sisters, Carmel O'Leary (Winston), Sandra Clements (Jerry) and by brother, Thomas Briggs (Elvira), as well as several nieces and nephews. Sheila graduated from Saint Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in 1962, worked in hospitals or nursing homes in NS, NB, Ontario, and Manitoba, finally retiring from the Oromocto Public Hospital in 1996. She will be remembered fondly as a dedicated, compassionate and hard working nurse by former colleagues and patients alike. The family would like to thank the wonderful nursing staff at the Oromocto Hospital for the excellent care Sheila received while in the Palliative Care unit.
Visitation with the family will take place at the Oromocto Funeral Home on 4 April 2014 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Oromocto on 5 April 2014 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a reception at the church hall. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery at a later date.
