CHARTIER, PETER HUGH - Peter Hugh Chartier passed away suddenly and quietly at his home in Dipper Harbour on April 01, 2014. Born in Montreal, he was a son of the late Paul and Lilianne (Harrington) Chartier. Peter was a warden for Emergency Measures Organization, Point Lepreau and retired from NB Power, Point Lepreau. He was a member of St. Brendan's Church. He was an avid walker and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved his grandchildren dearly and spending time with them. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; son Bryan (Ingrid) Chartier, of Toronto; daughter, Maureen (Brad) Melanson, of Grand Bay; sisters, Margaret Chartier and Lilly Chartier, of Montreal; sisters-in-law, Colleen Jansen and Anne Jansen; brothers-in-law, Danny Jansen, Gerry Jansen and James Jansen; grandchildren, Kirkland and Grace Melanson; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Paul Chartier.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Brendan's Church, Dipper Harbour on Friday, April 4, 2014 at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in St Brendan's Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish remembrances to a charity of one's choice would be appreciated by the family.
