Gertrude was born at Mount Moriah Newfoundland and she passed away at Lisaard House, with family by her side on Wednesday April 2, at the age of 100. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank L. Barrett; her son, Franklyn (Annalise Wiebe); and parents, Henry Thomas and Dorcas Ellen (nee Miles) Porter. She was also predeceased by her six brothers and sisters, Annette (Zachariah Park); Myrtle (Lester Allen); Brandford (Rachel Hunt); Herbert (Lillian Allen); Matilda (Ralph Elsworth); and Margaret. Gertrude is survived by her sons, Harry and his wife Juanita and Roland and his wife Karen; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. For a number of elections, she was the Province of Ontario Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Kitchener. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday April 6th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at The Church of St. John the Evangelist, 23 Water St. N., Kitchener on Monday April 7th at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow at the church. Cremation with interment at Memory Gardens, Breslau.
