GAMMON, J. HAMILTON - 1928 - 2014 - Bathurst - J. Hamilton Gammon, 85, formerly of Caron Dr., Bathurst, passed away Friday (April 4, 2014) at the Villa Sormany in Robertville. Born in Bathurst, he was the son of the late Samuel S. and Frances (Chalmers) Gammon. He was a former School Teacher in Bathurst for 37 years, past president of the NB Society Retired Teachers (NBSRT) and the local Bathurst branch of NBSRT. He ran his own Dairy Farm, now known as Gammon Farms. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his wife, Bernice (Ronalds) Gammon, he is survived by two daughters: Martha Vickers (Albert) and Ellen Gammon, both of Bathurst. Two grandchildren: Courtenay and Emma Vickers. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by a son, Clyde, brothers Lloyd, Rev. Dr. R.C. Chalmers and a sister, Frances Watling.
The body will rest after 2 p.m. Saturday at Elhatton's Funeral Home (www.elhatton.com), Bathurst. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday (April 6, 2014) at 2 p.m. from the First United Church, St. Patrick St., Bathurst. Visiting hours are Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Donations in memory of Hamilton may be made to the First United Church, NBSRT Scholarship Fund (Bathurst Branch) or a favorite charity.
