Elmer Joseph Ahearn

AHEARN, ELMER JOSEPH - Elmer Ahearn of Ridgewood Veterans Wing passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Ridgewood Veterans Wing surrounded by his loving family. Elmer was born November of 1920 in Tignish, Prince Edward Island to the late Timothy and Ethel (Ahearn) Ahearn. He was a WWII Veteran served in Europe with the Signal Corps as a Corporal with the Canadian Armed Forces. He worked as a Super Intendant with Civic Hydro for 35 years retiring in 1984. Elmer is survived by his sons Peter (Eve) and Robert (Anne Marie) both of Kars NB; one sister Marie Gaudette of Tignish, PEI; grandchildren Jason (Christine) and Patrick (Tara) and their mother Bonnie Ganong; granchildren Jeremy and Andrew (Holly-Jean) and their mother Jill Ahearn; three precious great-grandchildren, Rachael, Sean and Desmond; brother in law Pat Carbonaro of California and sister in law Laura Kilbride of PEI; several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Elmer was predeceased by his loving wife Mildred; brothers James, Frances, Emmett and Wheelock and sisters Margaret, Ann, Gladys and Inez.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a Veterans Tribute service to begin at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Interment to take place at Bayview Cemetery, Hatfield Point at a later date. Donations in Elmer’s memory can be made to the Ridgewood Veterans Wing or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
