The family of Helen Stik is sad to announce her passing on April 4, 2014 at Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford. Born in Scotchtown on September 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Emil and Matilda (O’Bracey) Krolichek.
Helen will be greatly missed by her three daughters Mary (Jim) Moore (Corner Brook, NL), Barbara (Louis) Ruelland (New Waterford), and Stefanie (Kevin) Hanrahan (Red Deer, AB); her nine grandchildren Jim (Karen) Moore (St. John’s, NL), Michael (Lynn) Moore (Windsor, ON), Christopher Moore (Ottawa, ON), Taushauna Moore (Angelo Mazzuca) (Toronto, ON), Nancy (Gary) Lewis (Inuvik, NWT), Geoffrey Ruelland (London, ON), Stevie (Jay) Philpott (Red Deer, AB), Kelsey Hanrahan (Jakob Crockett) (South Carolina, USA), Shea Hanrahan (Vancouver, BC); and six great grandchildren Brody, Lilah, Kahlen, Maelle, Dennis and Shane.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Stephen, and her sister, Lillian. In the last two years, Helen was blessed to reconnect with Stephen’s family in Slovakia.
The focus of Helen’s life was home and family, often teaching the simple pleasures of the outdoors. We remember and thank her for her quiet sacrifices.
A private family visitation will be held at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, New Waterford. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Ray Huntley and assisted by Deacon Leo Penny will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard’s Church.
All are invited to join the family for a reception at the KOC Hall on Plummer Avenue immediately following the funeral mass.
Interment in Saint Michael’s Cemetery will take place at a later date.
