OLEN TOTLAND
Loving husband and father, Olen Totland suddenly passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at age 79. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mariette; three daughters, Krista (Joe), Karen (Myra) and Marina; two grandchildren, Alexander and Hannah; twin sister Merline; and sister Christine.
Olen, affectionately known by everyone as Ole, was born in Rouyn, Quebec and grew up in Bourkes, Ontario. Following his marriage to Mariette, they moved west to BC, raised their family on a farm near Fort St. John, and he developed a career in welding. After moving to Victoria to work for CAL (Construction Aggregates Ltd.), he transferred with the company to the Sunshine Coast. He enjoyed his retirement there with Mariette, their beautiful garden and many extended weekends fishing on his boat. Throughout life he never forgot his Norwegian heritage.
He will be remembered as an extraordinarily beautiful, gentle man, quiet and compassionate, with a lovely sense of humour. Ole most certainly will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
