STAPLES, DOUGLAS - The passing of Douglas "Doug" Vincent Staples of McGivney, NB, husband of Joyce (MacLaggan) Staples occurred on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on April 14, 1941 in Fredericton, NB, he was the son of the late George Staples and step-son of the late Mary (Greene) Staples. Doug was an avid camper and enjoyed ATV riding; he also collected antiques. In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by his children, Mary Coughlan (David) of Nashwaak Bridge, NB, Joseph Staples (Sherry) of Whitecourt, AB, John Staples (Tracy) of Fredericton, NB and Pamela Wilkinson (Mark) of Fredericton, NB; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, George Staples (Lorraine) of Waterborough, NB and Geraldine Staples, Pat Fullarton (Neil) and Margaret Parker (Brian), all of Fredericton, NB; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his step-brother, Billy Greene.
Visitation will take place in York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 10, 2014 from 12 to 2 pm followed by a memorial service at 2:00 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick Lung Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
