SMITH, GLORIA M. – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gloria Smith, age 72, of Moncton, at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, with loving family members at her side. Born in St. George, NB, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Leona (Doucet) Smith. Gloria prior to retirement worked as a sales rep in the retail sector of Moncton. She was a member of the Roman Catholic’s Saint Augustine Parish. She enjoyed shopping and her pet dog, Holly. Gloria will be sadly missed by her life partner of 35 years, Leonard (Len) Leger. Gloria is survived by her brother Aubrey, from Eastern Passage, NS. Gloria was predeceased by her sister Marlene Fremanis and brothers William (Bill) and baby brother, Reggie. Gloria was also predeceased by her aunt, Maude Fraser who held a special place in her heart. She will be sadly missed by her sister-in-law Marilyn Smith, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special thank you to her dear friends Pauline Bastien, Sharon Edgett and Florence Auffrey, for their love and support.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Fair Haven Funeral Home at 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton (506) 852-3530 on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 7 to 9 pm. A visitation will be held prior to the funeral service at the Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10:00am until service time at 11:00am. Donations in Gloria’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. A special thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit at The Moncton Hospital.
