BISHOP, FREDA WILLA - It is with great sadness that the family of Freda Bishop of Sussex, formerly of Saint John, beloved wife of the late Russell Bishop announce her death which occurred on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the Sussex Health Centre. Born on August 4, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William and Rita (Sanger) Lefurgey. Prior to her retirement, Freda was employed with Smith Motor Transport and the Canadian Red Cross. She always took great comfort in her faith and loved her church community. Freda also had been involved with various senior groups throughout the community and was a member of the Pythian Sisters. She was an avid reader and also loved to quilt and sing in the church choir. Freda always held a special place in her heart for animals. Freda is survived by her children, Lee Bishop (Wendy Mason) of Sussex, Bob Bishop (Lynn) of Lower Sackville, NS, Bill Hart-Bishop (Heidi) of Toronto, ON, Peggy Bishop (Ernie Tomlinson) of Toronto, ON and Janice Bishop of Cole Harbour, NS; sister, Barbara Peddle of Bathurst; precious grandchildren, Parker, Andrew, Tamryn, Tara, Ben, Katie, Jordan, Mathew and Catherine; special niece, Faye Clark of the Kingston Peninsula; several other nieces and nephews; as well as in-laws, Lee Bishop and Florence McEachern both of Quispamsis. Besides her husband and parents, Freda was also predeceased by sisters, Lois Bickford, Gloria Ingram and Peggy Lefurgey.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Saturday, April 12, from 7-9 PM and Sunday, April 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held from Portland United Church, 50 Newport Crescent, Saint John on Monday, April 14, 2014, at 11:00 AM and will be immediately followed by a reception at Portland United Church. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens, at a later date.
