James 'Jimmy' Lannon

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Lannon of Lake Road, Glace Bay on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, James was the son of the late Edward ‘Ned’ and Catherine (O’Donnell) Lannon.
Jimmy was a lifelong Maple Leafs fan. He worked as a truck driver for L.H. Chernin in his early years and later was employed with the town of Glace Bay before retiring in 1995.
Jimmy was a compassionate and social man. Above all else he cherished his family dearly and will be sadly missed by all.
Jimmy is survived by his two sons, Glen, James (Sana); one sister, Eileen (Keith) Olford; three brothers, Jack, Tom, Al (Gemma); and four grandchildren, Cheyenne, Kristen, MacKenzie, Talal; aunts, Kay, Jeanette and his uncle, Tommy.
Jimmy was predeceased by his wife, Antoinette Angel (McDonald) Lannon, his brother, Fr. Joseph Patrick Lannon, uncles, Tony, Jim, aunts, Nellie, Josie, Pat, Irene and Joan.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A private family funeral service will be held in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay, at a later date. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Glace Bay.
As an expression of sympathy for Jimmy, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the N.S. Alzheimer’s Association.
