SABINE, Helen Barbara - 93, of the Meadow's Home for Special Care, and formerly of South Ohio, passed away at the Meadow's on April 10, 2014. Born in Pleasant Valley, Yarmouth Co., N.S. on April 12, 1920 she was a daughter to the late Levi and Etta (Allen) Hurlburt. Helen was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church, member of the High Hope Club, and member of the Bright Light Seniors Club. She was a former employee of the Lakelawn Motel and volunteer at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital gift shop. Helen was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughters, Donna Blackadar, South Ohio, Yarmouth Co.; Lorna (Tom) Banks, Auburn, Kings Co.; stepchildren, Nancy (Bruce) Earle; Janet (Terry) Forrest; Leonard (Linda) Sabine; granddaughter, Natalie (Corey) Conrad, New Canada, Lunenburg Co. She was predeceased by first husband, Bernard Sanders; second husband, Fred Sabine; sisters, Jean Bullerwell, Iva Hamilton, Elsie Gordon; brothers, Percy, Robert, and Austin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 7-9 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church. A funeral service was held Monday, April 14, 2014 from the Pleasant Valley United Baptist Church at 2 p.m., Rev. Mike Cannell officiated. Interment followed in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
