Arlene Sarty

SARTY, ARLENE - The passing of Arlene (Price) Sarty of Charters Settlement, NB, occurred on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was 72. Born in New Maryland, NB, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Lillian (Nason) Price. Arlene will undoubtedly be remembered as the most interesting, entertaining and friendly waitress that Fredericton has ever known. She worked for several restaurant establishments throughout the Fredericton area. She dearly loved her customers and always served them in excellence. Arlene was a community minded person at heart who always gave of herself. She was involved in the Lion/Lioness Clubs, Central GRS Radio Club, Mactaquac Gun Club or the RCL Ladies Auxiliary, just to mention a few. She was always concerned about others and nurtured them through her cooking. Many will remember receiving the delicious treats she so freely shared with family, friends and anyone else she felt could use a little kindness. Arlene was a passionate mother and was very involved in every aspect of her children’s lives. Her love knew no limits when it came to her family and friends… and they always knew exactly how she felt about them at any given moment. She will forever remain as “the best mom ever” to her daughter, Petrina Sarty of Charters Settlement and her son Isaac and his wife Kate and their children Luke and Owen all of Australia. Her grandchildren were a great light in her life. Arlene also leaves behind her devoted companion, Brian Campbell of Charters Settlement and her loving sisters, Velma Beairsto of Fredericton and Lillian Riley (Stan) of North Bay, Ontario as well as her many nieces, nephews and a host of cherished friends too numerous to count. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Milton and Warren Price and her sister, Roberta Morais.
Although there will be no visitation by personal request, a service celebrating Arlene’s life will be held from the New Maryland United Church of Canada on Friday, April 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Kelly Burke officiating. Prior to Arlene’s Celebration Service, a Lion’s Club Memorial service will be held at the church beginning at 1:30 PM. For those who wish to remember Arlene by way of a memorial contribution, the family suggests the New Maryland Lions Club and especially the Fredericton Community Kitchen because Arlene always had a generous spirit, loved to cook and feed others. A special “thank you” to the CCU Staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the compassion shown Arlene and her family. To further celebrate the life of Arlene and the sharing of memories, the family will receive visitors at Arlene’s home on Thursday evening, April 17 from 6 to 8 PM. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Bishop’s Funeral Home (458-1885) Fredericton. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.bishopsfuneralhome.com
