Robert Lawrence "Bob"  Baxter

Peacefully, with his family by his side, Robert Lawrence "Bob" Baxter, 67, of Tidnish Crossroads, passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Born in Amherst, Bob was a son of the late Lawrence and Jean (Rogerson) Baxter.
Bob was a truck driver for David Greeno for a good many years. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed driving the back roads. He was passionate about his time with his family and socializing with his many friends. Bob loved life and the community he was raised in.
Bob will be sadly missed by his wife of 46 years, Connie (nee Mountan), of Tidnish Bridge; a son, Owen Baxter, Saskatoon, SK; two daughters, Tina (Geoffrey) Legere, of Port Elgin, NB and Tammy (Steven) MacDonald, Amherst, NS; 3 grandchildren, Ryan Ackles, Benjamin MacDonald and Kristin Legere. Bob was soon to have become a great grandfather to a little boy to be born in August. Surviving as well, are two brothers, Carl (James Baltus), of Halifax, and Darrell, of Tidnish, and a sister, Elizabeth (Betty) King, of Amherst; his mother-in-law, Pearl (Mountan) Gallant, of Amherst; and many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst (902-667-8777). A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, April 18, 2014 from 1 pm until the time of the funeral at 2 pm. Interment to be held in the Riverside Cemetery at a later date. Ruth Gamble DLM officiating.
Donations in memory of Bob may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
