Harold Thomson

THOMSON, HAROLD GORDON - The family is saddened to announce the death of Harold Thomson of Halifax, and formerly of Saint John, beloved husband of Ruth (Dixon) Thomson, on Thursday, April 17, at Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building. Born in Framingham, Massachusetts, on September 23, 1925, he was the son of the late Harold Thomson Sr. and Marguerite (Green) Thomson. Prior to his retirement, Harold was employed with the Department of Veterans Affairs - Finance Department. Harold was a lifelong member of St. James Anglican Church in the South End and served on the Vestry and as a Warden for many years. He had a passion for music and was a member of St. Mary’s Band for 65 years and also a member of the R.C.A. Band 3 Field Regiment for several years. Harold was an avid badminton player and also enjoyed a good round of golf with friends after his retirement. He looked forward to spending time with family at their summer camp on the Belleisle. He will be lovingly missed. In addition to his wife, Harold is also survived by his children, Richard (Claudia Schultz) of Ontario, Philip of Ohio, Donald (Janet Holmes) of Dartmouth and Shirley Thomson of Dartmouth, as well as his sister, Marion Laurie (William) of British Columbia. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Eastwood.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, April 21 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The funeral service will be held from St. Mary and St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, 646 Westmorland Road, Saint John, on Tuesday, April 22 at 2:30 PM.
