Ferdie LeBlanc

LeBLANC, FERDIE - Ferdie “Ferdinand” LeBlanc, 1936-2014, enjoyed many moments of love and laughter with those he cherished. Though the wrath of cancer was no stranger to him, the decline that finally claimed Ferdie, was in some ways what he would have preferred. Ferdie passed away surrounded by loved ones at age 77 on April 18, 2014 at the Palliative Care Unit at the Moncton Hospital. Ferdie was retired from the City of Moncton where he worked 22 years until 1997. Whenever possible, Ferdie would head to his cottage in Bouctouche where family and friends often gathered and created many happy memories over the years. He was also one of the Moncton Wildcats' most loyal fans. Ferdie's second wife, Anne, for the past six years was his closest companion, and in recent weeks endured the role as his home care giver until the task to keep him home was no longer sustainable. He is survived by his second wife, Anne (Barry); four children: George LeBlanc (Alicia) of Shediac, Andy LeBlanc (Micheline) of Dartmouth, Suzanne Richardson (Paul) of Charlottetown and Mike LeBlanc (Lise) of Quispamsis; one brother, Sam (Cecile) of Moncton; one sister, Winnie Phillips of Saint-John; nine grandchildren: Joffre, Andree-Michelle, Danielle, Melissa, Justin, Julia, Chantal, James and Laura; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife of nearly 46 years, Julie “Juliette” Leger (2005); nine brothers and sisters: Meleme, Rita, Edgar, Fred, Hector, Sadie, Bernadette, Liza and Alban.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Center, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) from where the funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 3pm. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 1 pm until time of funeral. In memory of Ferdie, a contribution to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital (oncology) would be appreciated. The family is grateful for love and friendship offered by many friends and family, and for the comfort provided by the staff of The Palliative Care Unit of the Moncton Hospital. We are especially grateful for the care and love given so selflessly by Sue. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Frenette Funeral Center, Moncton.
