New Glasgow - Evelyn J. Graham. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mom, Evelyn June Desmond-Graham, 80, of Frederick St., who passed away unexpectedly on April 18, 2014. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Isaac and Jessie (Paris) Desmond. Evelyn was a loving mother and grandmother and was a hard worker all her life providing the best she could for her family. She was a retired PCW from Glen Haven Manor. She was a Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary, Br. 34, Royal Canadian Legion. Evelyn was a loyal ball fan to her Toronto Blue Jays, loved playing darts, but nothing could top her Bingo. That was her social pastime with her Bingo friends. She was a friend of many. She will be sadly missed by daughters: Alice “Bubby”; Karen “Tiny”; Annette (Greg MacLean), all of New Glasgow; Juanita, Riverton; Jessie (Daryl) Johnson, Kamloops, BC; Carolyn “Dudy”, Montreal; stepchildren: Diane (Jim), John and George, Ontario; sisters: Annie Reddick, New Glasgow; Margaret (Bob Blagdon), Montreal; brothers: Clarence “Diddy” (Doreen), Moncton; Jim (Linda), Kingston; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by husband Bertram Graham; sisters: Isabelle, Bessie, Shirley and Eileen; brothers: Alfie, Louis, Doug, Francis, George and Ernest Johnson. Visitation will take place 2-4 and 7-9 pm Wednesday in the R.H. Porte Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service 2 pm Thursday in Second United Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Morley Shaw officiating. Burial will take place in Lorne Street Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association.
