It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Christena Catherine Boudreau on April 22, 2014, surrounded by her loving children.
Born in Big Lorraine, Cape Breton, to the late John and Mary MacKay (nee Johnson).
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a member of the Louisbourg Legion Branch 62 Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the CWL for Stella Maris Parish, Louisbourg.
She was predeceased by her husband Henry Joseph Boudreau, twin daughters, Ann and Marie, son Robert, sisters, Jemimah Morash (Terry), Flora Fiander (Danny), Maude Franklin (Percy), Margaret Harpell (Victor), brothers, George MacKay (Victoria), James MacKay (Eileen), Angus MacKay (Kathleen), Alex MacKay, and son-in- law Kenny Hamood.
She is survived by her cherished children, sons, Sandy (Kathleen), Tony, Danny, and Cory (Angie); daughters, Faye MacLeod (Hughie), Sherry MacDonald (Anthony), Gail Hamood, Lori Campbell (Wayne), Lisa Pyke (Darren), Janice Marshall, Dana Riles (Keith); 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, many neices and nephews, and 'special daughter' Gloria MacLeod.
Mom was an avid bird watcher. She loved to watch the spring flowers open in all their splendor, and so enjoyed singing, dancing, and many laughs on bingo night. She loved sharing a good cup of tea with her friends and family. Widowed at the age of 42, Mom unselfishly devoted her life to her children, always putting her wants and needs aside to ensure she gave us the wisdom to make good decisions, the conscience to do the right thing, the patience to deal with adversity, and the strength to deal with the hardships that come with life, but most of all, she loved us unconditionally. Mom, you have given us the very best of you – Fly high now, and rest easy with Dad, your "Sweetheart", and we will see you again. We miss you already.
Many thanks to her wonderful Homecare Workers "The Louisbourg Girls" who were always generous with their time, love, and laughs. She thought the world of you ladies, and we so appreciate the care and respect you gave her. Thank you to all in the Palliative Care Unit , including volunteer staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. You are a special group of people and we will always remember your kindness.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, April 25, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg. Memorial mass will take place 2 p.m., Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Stella Maris Church, Louisbourg. Interment to take place at a later date.
