BOWER, Gordon Hugh of Shelburne, at the age of 71, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2014. Born in Shelburne he was a son of the late Hugh and Beulah (Brannen) Bower. Gordon proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces for over 30 years and he loved to share stories of time spent in Europe and of his adventures as a paratrooper. A man with a kind and gentle heart, he loved the outdoors and watching hockey and baseball games. He is survived and will be sadly missed by sister, Cheryl, Shelburne; nieces Cheryl Rech, Shelburne; Amy, Michigan; Sara, Ontario; and nephew Tim, New Jersey. He was predeceased by his wife, Rita, sister, Myrna (Rech) and brother Brian. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 28 in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Chapel, Shelburne, 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Joanne McFadden officiating. Interment in was Pine Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
