SMITH, Daniel Vincent, 88, Bay Side Home, Barrington, formerly of Smithsville, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born at Deep Cove Island, Yarmouth County on May 17, 1925 he was a son of the late William and Hilda (Trott) Smith. Danny lived at Bay Side Home. He was known as the Mayor at Bay Side Home. Danny was a fisherman all his working life. He worked on the building of Shelburne Hospital. Danny loved playing cards and curling. He looked forward to the Sunday visits with great nieces April (Justin), Theresa (Derrick), great nephew, Joseph (Theresa) and great grandnieces Sophie and Laidley. He is survived by two sons, Daniel and Kevin, granddaughter, all of the U.S.A.; sister, Deserta, Baccaro; brother, Clyde (Alice), Port LaTour and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Gertrude; brothers, Edward, Elton, Simeon; infant siblings, David, Carl, Deserta Pearl. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Barrington. A graveside service will be held at a later date. Danny loved all the workers at the Bay Side Home.
