It is with great sadness that we regret to announce the sudden passing of George Anthony Gale on April 23, 2014 at his home.
Born and raised in Whitney Pier, he was the youngest son of the late Elizabeth (Smith) and Thomas Gale.
George began his career at Spring Garden Villa. After his graduation from St. John General Hospital, NB as a nursing orderly, he joined the staff at St. Rita’s Hospital. He later worked in the lab as a lab assistant at both St. Rita’s and Sydney City Hospital until ill health caused him to retire.
He will be fondly remembered by all his coworkers and ‘patients’ that frequented the blood collection department, and was very proud when he received accolades from them for his skill and technique.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Georgie (Johnston); sons Kevin (Isabelle) and Ken (Ashley). Papa to grandchildren Ethan, Iyla, Charlie, Brody and Cameron, all of Ottawa, Ont; brother Bernie (June), Sydney and sister Theresa Crowder Petawawa, Ont. George will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and the Johnston Family.
He was predeceased by sisters Mary Harry and Anna MacNeil and brothers John (Clara) and Edward.
Visitation will be held at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel, Sunday, April 27 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Monday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bill Burke officiating.
