It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Stanley ‘Stan’ George Hennick at home on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Sydney on Jan. 11, 1929, Stan was the son to the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Bitzon) Hennick.
Stan was a retired crane operator in the blooming mill of Sydney Steel Company. He lived his life on the hill surrounded by family and friends. Stan loved fishing, playing cards and going to the horse races. He enjoyed gardening, growing potatoes and cultivated strawberries. Stan will be missed by all who knew him.
Stan is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sally Hennick; four children, George (Pat) Hennick, Debbie Gillis, Fred Hennick and Trish (Kevin Bray) Hennick; 10 grandchildren, Keith, Angela, Laurie, Shauna, David, Brian, Sarah, Brittney, Keila and Nicholas; 12 great-grandchildren, Kylie, Dylan, Austin, Keigan, Karter, Hailey, Aliyah, Hailey, Brady, Cory, Mallory and Kevin; sister, Florence (Bob) Shea and two sisters-in-law, Marg and Sachiko. Stan is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Stan was predeceased by his sisters, Evelyn, Vic, Bessie and Lilly; brothers, Rudolph, Albert, Johnny, Tom, Frank, Alex and a brother in infancy.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Stanley ‘Stan’ George Hennick will be announced at a later date.
Donations in memory of Stan may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to give much thanks to the City Homemakers for the special care given to Stan during his time of need.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
