MOREHOUSE, DOUGLAS VERNON - Douglas V. Morehouse of Zealand, NB passed away April 29, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Douglas was born at Zealand, NB in 1919, a son of the late Simon and Viola (Estey) Morehouse. Before his retirement he was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Atlas Construction and J.D. Irving. Douglas was also an outfitter and guide for 43 years. He is survived by a special friend, Violet Cyr, Woodstock, NB; his daughters, Wilma Dube, Middle Hainesville, NB,Cathy Crouse (Eric) and chosen daughter Patsy Morehouse (Jason), both of Zealand, NB; his sons, Duane Morehouse (Heidi), Zealand, NB and Billy Morehouse (Cheryl), Fredericton, NB; two sisters, Ruby Pugh, Burtts Corner, NB and Elva Gilbert, Zealand, NB; fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Douglas was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Crouse) Morehouse; sisters Lena, Trena, Anna and Irma, brothers Dick, Cecil, Bernard and Eugene, son-in-law, Jean Yeve Dube and three infant children.
Visiting hours will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carl and Evelyn Brewer officiating. Interment will be later at St. Paul’s Anglican Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Ron McLaughlin, Clayton Morehouse and Eugene Gallagher.Active pallbearers will be his grandsons Jeffrey, Desmond, Shane, Shawn, Darren and Russie.
