HOPKINS, WILLARD - The passing of Willard Hopkins of Fredericton, NB occurred at his home on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the age of 62. Born in Minto, NB, he was a son of the late Hugh and Lorna (Darrah) Hopkins. Willard was a carpenter, but really a jack of all trades. He was a constant problem solver, helping many people with any task they couldn’t handle. He loved wood carving, focusing mainly on wildlife pieces. Willard also enjoyed kayaking, riding his motorcycle and became a self-taught guitar player and singer, country and bluegrass music were his favorites. Most of all, he thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Trish; his two daughters Gina Hopkins of Rusagonis and Toria Martin of Fredericton; a grandson Cody Martin of Fredericton; three granddaughters Rachel Martin of Fredericton, Brooklynn Hopkins and Georgia Hopkins, both of Rusagonis; a brother Robert Hopkins (Linda) of Chipman; a sister Betty-Anne Edwards of Fredericton; several aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Bishop’s Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road Fredericton on Sunday May 4, 2014 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Doug Hapeman officiating. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the I.W.K. Hospital.
