­It is with great sadness that the family of the late Melvin W. Gillam announce his passing on Saturday May 3, 2014 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit at the age of 72 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife: Catherine, 4 sons: Floyd (Linda) of Kingston, ONT, Lee (Amanda) of Gillam’s, Brett (Peggy) of St. Johns, Ritchie (Cintia) of Halifax, NS, grandchildren: Andrew, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Amanda, Hannah, Sydney, brother Shawn of Gillam’s, sisters: Hellen (Joe) of Meadows, Alice (Raleigh) of Lark Harbour, and also a large circle of extended family and friends. Melvin was predeceased by his parents: Agustus and Lida, brothers: John, Durall, Percy, and sister Maisie. Friends may visit the St. James Anglican Church, Gillam’s on Monday May 5, 2014 between the hours of 7-9 pm, from where the funeral service will take place on Tuesday May 6, 2014 at 2 pm, with Reverend Malcolm Palmer officiating. Interment to follow at the Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Meadows. As expressions of sympathy no flowers by request, donations may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Canadian Cancer Society.
