John Angus 'Pinky' MacDonald

Born In: Glace Bay
Born: November 28th, 1937

Passed in: Glace Bay
Passed on: May 3rd, 2014

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of John Angus 'Pinky' MacDonald of Union Street, Dominion, at the Glace Bay Hospital, on May 3, 2014.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Colin F. and Sarah (Sadie MacDonald), Union Street, Dominion.
Pinky went the way of most young Cape Breton boys, off to Toronto, Ont., where he found work with the city. He returned home and, for a while, he worked for the Town of Dominion.
A progressive loss of his hearing kept Pinky away from many gatherings, but gave him an opportunity to do what he loved the most. He was a tinkerer. He loved to take things apart, and if it was a good day, he even put them back together. He became an adequate carpenter, having built a barn, a baby barn and a child-size play house and swing for any of the neighbourhood kids, who loved to play in the yard.
Pinky had a true love of family, always being there to do whatever needed to be done.
He is survived by sisters, Johnena and Mary Margaret 'Maggie', brother Frankie (Marie), sister-in-law Betty and very special niece Valerie Campbell.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Mary (Neilie, dec.), Anne, Elizabeth (in infancy), brothers, Dan (Frecks), Charlie and Joe. Pinky is also survived by many nieces, nephews and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Visitation is Tuesday, May 6, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. under the direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport, at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2014, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating.
