TRENTON – Freeman Wells, age 89, of Duke Street, Trenton, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Red Island, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Morgan and Lillian (Cosser) Wells.
He joined the Merchant Navy at age 16 and served from 1940-1945. He was retired from Boiler Makers Local 73.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene (Black); daughters, Ida Rundle, Westville; Jacqulynn (Alex) Watson, New Glasgow; sons: James, New Glasgow; James W., Toronto; Herman, Toronto; Terry (Leola), Toronto; grandchildren: Trudy Duggan; Heather (Aaron) Miller; Tracey Rundle (Ron); John, William and Greg Wells; Carrie and Jason Watson; Daiseyjane, Crystal and Christopher Wells; Phillip and Tyler Wells; numerous great-grandchildren; sisters, Melissa Chaulk, Nfld.; Lillian Keeping, Nfld.; brother, Monford, Nfld.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Daisy Belle Gerrior; sons, Fred and Doug; son-in-law, John Rundle; several brothers and sisters.
Visitation from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton, from where funeral service will take place at 3 p.m. Saturday with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating.
Family flowers only please. Donations in his memory may be made to the S.P.C.A. or a charity of choice.
