The death occurred at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Monday, May 19, 2014, of Edward Blanchard, a veteran of the Second World War, beloved husband of Stella (nee Doiron), of Rustico, age 95.
Edward was the loving father of Marcia Berthier (Brad), Lynn Gallant (Carl) and Robert (Michelle); and grandfather of Justin and Kaitlin Berthier; and Ashley and Ryan Blanchard. He is also survived by his brothers, Reginald and Cornelius; sisters, Margaret and Lorraine; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Edward was predeceased by his parents, Theophile and Angelina (Doucette) Blanchard; his brothers and sisters, Allan, Raymond, Stella, Richard, Anita, Cyril, Eleanor and Bernard.
Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, for visitation on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Knights of Columbus will hold a prayer service at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Rustico, on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Augustine’s Cemetery. Due to severe allergies, please refrain from wearing scented products.
