SMITH, Elsie May, 90, of Roseway Manor formerly of Port Clyde, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Roseway Manor, Shelburne. Born October 8, 1923 in Lowestoft, England, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Annie Blowers. Elsie was very involved in volunteering and was a founding member of the Port Clyde Firettes. She was also a member of the Women’s Institute. She was a veteran of WWII, serving with the British Army. Elsie was a war bride and came to Canada in 1946 to live with her husband where they shared 52 years together. She is survived by her sons, Michael (Della) Smith; their children, Shawn and Karine; Peter (Sandra) Smith of Dartmouth; their children, Colin and Carla; Stephen (Valerie) Smith; their children, Kara (Kevin) and Stephanie; and great-grandchild, Kylen. Elsie was predeceased by her parents, husband, Charles “Stan” Smith; brothers, Tommy, Albert, Arthur; sister, Annie; and 2 infant children, David and Robert. Cremation has taken place. The Memorial service was held on Monday, May 19 from H.M Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Pastor Cindy Dunnett officiating. Burial in the Port Clyde Cemetery, Port Clyde. Memorial donations may be made to the Roseway Manor Organ Fund, Port Clyde Cemetery, or a charity of choice.
