Wlma Bourlon

Bourlon: Wilma Caroline Bourlon, age 77, of Swift Current, SK passed away peacefully on May 13, 2014. The celebration of her life was held at the Swift Current First United Church on Saturday, May 17, 2014 with Barb Wiebe officiating. Her life tribute was given by her son and daughter Earl and Bonita. The interment service was held at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Swift Current. Wilma Caroline Parchman was born in Lafleche, SK on March 9, 1937. She started elementary school in Fir Mountain. In 1949 her father, who worked for CP Rail, was transferred to Pambrun where she completed her elementary education. While living in Pambrun, she attended high school in Vanguard. In 1952 her family moved to Cadillac where she continued high school until starting her first job. She later moved to Swift Current where she met and married Raymond Bourlon of Val Marie on June 11, 1956. Wilma and Ray were blessed with two children, Earl and Bonita. Wilma dedicated her life to raising their children and only worked outside of the home after the children were grown. She always had an open door for her many nieces and nephews if they wanted to come to spend a few minutes or a few days. Her generous nature extended out to neighborhood children as well. Her compassionate nature was evident by the number of hours spent visiting or talking on the phone with friends and neighbors. Throughout her life, Wilma enjoyed activities such as baseball, curling, sewing, gardening, auctions and garage sales. Taking annual summer vacations as a family was very important to her. These vacations often included driving many miles throughout Saskatchewan, the Western Provinces and the United States. She was always ready for a camping, hunting or fishing adventure. She managed to regularly out fish her husband Ray, often filling her pockets with the proceeds from their dollar bets for the first and biggest fish caught! She taught her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews the art of fishing as well. During hunting season Wilma would often accompany Ray and her children as the official ride along guide. Wilma will always be fondly remembered for her dedication and love for her immediate and extended family and friends. She always had a special place in her heart for everyone. Granny loved and cherished her grandchildren and was an inspiration to them.
