The family of the late Georgie MacLean announce her peaceful passing May 18, 2014, in Ottawa, surrounded by her family.
Born in Port Morien, Sept. 26, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Catherine (Burchell) Nicholson.
Georgie was a World War II veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, a member of the Red Cross, and UCW. She was an avid gardener along with an excellent cook and baker. She lived a long and happy life surrounded by family and friends. She took great joy in her grandchildren and loved sharing stories and pictures of their adventures.
She is survived by her two sons, Brian (Beverly), Ottawa, David (Sharon), Ottawa; daughter, Melba (Mark) Gellner, London, Ont.; sisters, Carol MacIntosh, Trenton, Ont.; Eva McDonald, Port Morien; brother, Neil 'Buddy' (Sylvia), Port Morien; grandchildren, Dale, Wendy, Vicki, Jennifer and Scott, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Georgie was predeceased by husband of 59 years, Daniel MacLean and brother, Lauchie Nicholson.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A family service will be held at a later date in Port Morien, N.S.
