Geoffrey Hayward

Geoffrey Hayward, formally of Moose Jaw, SK passed away peacefully in Salmon Arm, BC on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Shuswap General Hospital. Geoff, predeceased by his wife Pauline (2012) and by his son Roy (1988). Loving father of Doug (Dee) of Salmon Arm, BC, Ron (Denise) of Cranbrook, BC, Norman (Janice) of Elkford, BC, and step-daughter Paula LaFontaine of Regina SK. His memory will be cherished by his many grandchildren, great grandchildren, sisters Emily, Reta (Dave), brothers Stan (Mae), Rob (Elvina), and John, as well as many more relatives and friends. Geoff was born on the family farm near Leask, SK, to Arthur and Beatrice Hayward on November 14, 1925 (one of 13 children). He attended Meadow Grove School then stayed on to work the land through the mechanical transition years and missing his horses. In 1948 at a Saturday night dance he met the love his life Pauline LeBlanc and were married in Prince Albert on October 25, 1950. They farmed together for six more years before moving to Moose Jaw in 1956 with 2 young sons in tow. After working at CP Express for 7 ½ years and operating his own barbershop for 18 years, he rounded off his working career with 10 years as maintenance manager of the Western Development Museum, retiring in November 1990. His retirement years were enjoyed entertaining family and friends, gardening, traveling, music and tinkering in the garage. After the passing in 2012 of his beloved wife Pauline, of 61 years, he accepted an offer to experience living in Super Natural BC with his son Doug and Dee, their nearby families and the family dog Riley in Salmon Arm, BC. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Parkview Funeral Chapel, with Reverend Bob Langdon officiating. Blair & Kelly Scott, Funeral Directors. (306) 694-5500.
