GAVEL, Marion Hattie – 82, of Yarmouth, passed away at home with her family by her side on May 28, 2014. Born in Saulnierville on November 12, 1931 she was a daughter to the late Austin and Mary (Saulnier) Hicks. Marion was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and member of the Pleasant Valley/Deerfield Women’s Institute. Marion was also a member of the Carleton Legion and also Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Carleton Legion. Marion was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Gavel, Yarmouth; daughters, Darla (Rick) Boudreau, Yarmouth; Rosemary (Gerry) White, Yarmouth; sons, Paul (Evelyn), Trenton, ON; Gordie, Pleasant Lake, Yarmouth Co., N.S.; 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brother, Walter; sister, Kay; son, Donald Jr; great granddaughter, Courtney. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Saturday, May 31, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service was held Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 2 p.m. from Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Mike Cannell officiated. Family flowers only please. Interment followed in Deerfield Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Dialysis Unit of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.
