LEVERE, RETA B. (FINCH) - In loving memory of Reta B. Levere (née Finch) who passed from this earth into the arms of her Lord on Sunday May 18, 2014, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB, with daughter, Carolyn Joy and Andy by her side. Born in Belmont, Ontario, December 14, 1917, Reta was educated as a Registered Nurse, graduating with the Hamilton General Hospital Class of 1940. She enjoyed going to the nurses reunions when she was in the Hamilton area. She married and became a full time wife and mother. In the 1970’s she completed the HR Block Income tax course and prepared taxes for HR Block and did general bookkeeping for small businesses for several years retiring fully in the 1980’s. During her life she moved 37 times living in Ontario Canada, Florida USA and New Brunswick, Canada where she happily spent the last seven years. She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Stephen Dwight Levere (d. Mar 2006), her brothers Gordon Finch, Thomas Finch, Allan Finch; sister Ruth Finch-Rogers-Towers; parents Frank and Bessie (Moore) Finch. She is survived by her brothers ‘Jack’ Finch, Harry Finch; sister-in-law Mary (Allan) Finch; loving children, Marilyn Lillian (Robert) Taylor (Kansas City KS/Vero Beach FL), Harry Ray Daniel ‘Danny’ (Janet) Levere (Ridgway CO), Carolyn Joy Levere (Andy Stewart) (Oromocto NB). She was blessed with grandchildren Theresa Lynn Taylor, Christopher Robert (Donyelle) Taylor, Monty Lane Levere, Autumn Struder (Shad) Reif; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who were all special to her. Reta will be remembered for the sparkle in her blue eyes. She was a kind, gentle, gracious, lady with a beautiful smile, who loved her family and friends, life, laughter and her garden where she spent many happy hours. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for many years, enjoyed music, and watched Sunday services on TV during the last years of her life. She gave us many warm memories for those of us left behind. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the EMS responders on March 22, Chalmers Hospital staff/respiratory therapy/nurses/doctors of the emergency room, 3rd floor south west, 3rd floor north east for their kindnesses and attendance to our mother. Thank you to all our friends who visited her, and those who held us in their thoughts and prayers.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, June 7 at the Oromocto Funeral Home, Winnebago Street, Oromocto, from 1 to 4 pm. Her ashes will be carried to Dorchester, Ontario for a memorial service at the Dorchester Community Center with a graveside service at her parents’ gravesite. The interment service will be in Prescott, Ontario where her ashes will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Shanley Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Oromocto Hospital or Chalmers Hospital Foundations are suggested or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
