It is with sadness that we must announce the passing of F. Laurier Wheeler, age 99, of Sackville. Laurie passed away peacefully at the Drew Nursing Home on Wednesday, May 21, 2014.
Born in Sackville, NB, he was a son of the late John and Minnie (Snowdon) Wheeler.
Laurie worked at the Tribune Press for 45 years, and was a member of St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church.
He will be sadly missed by three daughters, Frances (Ken) Eagles, Sackville, Diana (Ron) Purcell, Portuguese Cove, N.S., and Marlene (David) Hicks, Edmonton, AB; several grandchildren, great, and great great grandchildren; three sons, Raymond (Pauline), Southampton, ON, William (Brenda), Palmer Rapids, ON and Peter (Ann Ruusi), Digby Neck, NS; sister-in-law Beryl Wheeler, Sackville
He was predeceased by his wife the former Edmay Richard in 2001; daughter-in-law Marianne; four sisters, Marion, Jean, Marjorie and Ruth and five brothers, Roy, Rubin, Lloyd, Bill, and John.
The remains rested at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (506-364-1300) with visitation on Friday, May 23, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass was celebrated at St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church, Sackville, on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 11 a.m. Father Allison Carroll officiated. Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery.
