DEMPSEY, VERA "TOBY" - Vera Mary “Toby” (nee Davis) Dempsey, 90, of Hillgrove, peacefully went to join her Lord and Saviour at the Jordan Lifecare Centre on May 30, 2014. Born in Hillgrove, she was a daughter of the late Foster and Gertrude (nee Collier) Davis, and the wife of the late Walter Dempsey. Although she had no children of her own, Aunt Toby played a special part in the lives of many: Rutanya and Jensena, Becky and Reginald, Jamie and Reggie, Berta, as well as many other special nieces, nephews, and extended family members; her sisters: Gladys Smith (late Mort) of Hillgrove and Helen (Ron) Jones of Cornwall, PEI. Toby will be greatly missed by her special niece Carolyn Wynes (Reg) with whom she lived with prior to living at the Jordan Lifecare Centre. Besides her parents and husband, Toby was predeceased by her brother Norman; and her sisters: Marie Chapman (Harold), Mildred Mullins (Edwin), Edna Kaye (Arnold), Ethel Drury (Les), Elsie Tower (Royden), and Phyllis Smith (Bolt). Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Armstrong’s Funeral Home, Petitcodiac (506-756-3361). Visitation will be held on Monday June 2, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at 10:00 am with Rev. Derek Geldart presiding, all in the Hillgrove Baptist Church. Interment will be held in the Maplewood Cemetery. Donations to the Jordan Lifecare Centre would be appreciated by the family.
