Pictou; McDonald, 'Betty' Anne Elizabeth (nee MacLellan)
Passed away peacefully on June 4, 2014 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born on April 2, 1940 in Broad Cove, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the Hugh and Margaret MacLellan. She was the loving wife to Raymond for fifty years; supportive mother to Sheila (Kevin), Jeff (Lynne) and Jennifer (Duff); doting grandmother to Will, Meghan and Brogan. Betty was sister to Marcella (Ernest) MacDonald; Mary (late Jack) Campbell; Father Alexander MacLellan and was predeceased by Isabel (Tony) Metz.
Betty graduated from St. Martha’s School of Nursing in Antigonish in 1962 and wore her class ring every day. She moved away from Nova Scotia following graduation and lived in Alberta, Newfoundland, Ontario and again in Nova Scotia, residing in Pictou for the last 22 years.
Although she lived in many places and travelled to different parts of the world, she remained in her heart a Cape Breton girl who found her way home to Broad Cove every summer. Like the dancing rhythms of her beloved fiddle music, her spirit was buoyant, humorous and warm. She was very much loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
Cremation has taken place.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday June 8th from 7-9 P.M. in the Inverness Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Monday June 9th at 11 am at St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church, Broad Cove, Inverness County.
